A lot of games have had style changes. Sonic got lankier (once in the Dreamcast era and again in Boom) and Rayman went back to 2D but the design change of Athena is one of those "good dammit Japan" moments. Though in this case, it's not just a mere artist change, she still had the older look in previous King of Fighters games.

Here she is circa 1997

And here she is after she got ran over by the Moe-mobile

Though, like Roll said, it's no big deal.

And this is the first comic we had the whole team in on. I wonder if Black Mage will learn to ignore it like the rest do.

Every time you compliment her, she gets another highlight in her eyes.

Roll's probably used to it, considering she went through kind of the opposite in the transition to Giga's art style.

Also, "getting hit by the moe-mobile" is probably my new favorite phrase.

I was a bit nervous for this comic, to be honest. It's kind of like baking a batch of cupcakes for a cooking contest, and then you find out the guy before you baked a wedding cake.

That being said, I think this one was really fun to do. I'm excited seeing it come to fruition. Here, you can highlight the biggest difference between Giga and I: the size of the heads. Also the crappy anatomy but it matches the size of the heads.

In other news, I finally took a listen to the 101-track Super Smash Bros. fan album, Harmony of Heroes. Most of the tracks are incredibly good, some even reaching professional quality, so I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys video game soundtracks. Be warned, though: the entire album is a hefty seven hours long, so don't let it eat up your time.

I don't particularly like the way this one turned out, to be honest. Classic Athena looks kinda dead-eyed, and Modern Athena doesn't even resemble the official design. Regardless, I don't have time or willpower to redo it. >_<

Then again, maybe she's supposed to be dead-eyed?

I thought you all did good. Man, artists are always beating themselves up. I wonder if Da Vinci carried the Mona Lisa around everywhere as proof that he wasn't that great, citing that he failed to make it clear whether she was smiling or not.

Oh and I checked the subscription rankings and we're this close to being in the top 50 most subscribed comics on CF. I wonder if I can remove the "this close to being" soon.

Hello all!

I may be annoying, but I'll ask that question until I get an answer :P :

Do you plan on taking on the Touhou Project's rather... Colorful cast some day? I mean, these girls have some serious issues...

Alice Margatroid's obsession with dolls and her stuffing them full of gunpowder, Suika Ibuki, an oni who's never sober (a gourd that produces an infinite amount of sake helps being perpetually drunk) and once used her control over density to gather enough people to throw a big party (she can control all kinds of densities, including population density), Yuyuko Saigyouji, who commited suicide upon learning about her power to cause death (and came back as a ghost, a ghost with some serious eating disorder who can only thank being a ghost for not weighting more than 500 kg in fat tissues...), Fujirawa no Mokou and Kaguya Houraisan who kill time by killing each other. Repeatedly (both of them having drunk the Hourai Elixir and thus coming back to life at full strength every time. Oh, and they'll never age.)... And those are just the ones I can think at the top of my head. Seriously, Marisa Kirisame, a rampant kleptomaniac and compulsive hoarder (the resident shopkeeper bough a pile of scrap metal from her house, because he noticed that among the scraps was located the legendary sword Kusanagi, so she's got so much random crap in her house and has no idea what half of it is...) looks outright sane when compared to the rest of the Touhou colorful cast... Dr Gardevoir would have a field day with them!

I don't think we have any Touhou scripts written right now, but it does sound like it'd be interesting material to cover.

Thanks for your answer! Glad I've pointed you to some interesting material!

Looks like he just noticed the Style-Change, Black Mage is a wonderful mix of Forth-Wall-Aware and a lack of Genre-Savvyness.
I enjoy these guys.

From what I can tell Black Mage is the last person to notice when the art style changes, or the first. I guess only time will tell?

One question.

Do you guys make sure you crosswiki?
Guybrush20X6 edit delete reply
Guybrush20X6
I don't know that that means so I'll assume no. What is crosswiki?
MisterM edit delete reply
MisterM
Its a term on TvTropes.
Read about it here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Administrivia/Crosswicking
Its kinda important on the wiki.

Oh, that! Yes, we have made sure we crosswick our entries; if you check out the Webcomics section of some Trope pages, you might find examples from Lvl30Psy.

Is it weird that I think her original design is cuter than the current one?
