We'll I'm back. You ever had funny transplanted back into your skull? It's not as entertaining as it sounds.

It doesn't seem to have dulled my wizard powers though as the week we get that Smash bomb shell we put up a Smash Bros comic. I use my powers to predict that a Donkey Kong and a Star Fox character will be available for download. Consider this comic an epilogue to the Heavy Metal saga.

Sadly this comic's regular cast can't be in Smash, even with the ballot. Gardevoir is a Pokeball Pokemon and even if she wasn't she (along with Chansey and Audino) have an uphill battle against three dropped veterans. Roll is a secondary character from an already represented third party making her best chance to be a costume for Miis. And the only way Roger Wilco would appear on a Nintendo console is if someone use a web browser to look at this comic. If you want to support Black Mage, White Mage or Cooking Mama, go nuts.

The official DryKirby approvals for Smash are Bandanna Waddle Dee, Shantae, and anything Rhythm Heaven related. Go out and vote for them if you'd like. Please don't vote for Wolf or Roy -- what a waste of a ballot that would be.

Moving on, I apologize that there was a slight delay with the comic. Part of the reason it took so long to draw is that some of these characters are an absolutely pain in the rear to draw. Mega Man and Samus, specifically. I'm no good with robotic figures, I guess.

Panel 4 was really fun to draw, though. The pastel chalk look took a bit of tweaking but I think it came out well. I'm surprised I was able to make it work with such a limited palette -- I only used four colors total.

One last thing: this is probably Box's least favorite comic. Sorry about that. >_<

What DryKirby is referring to is,
last night in an exhausted state, I made a post on tumblr saying that, in so many words, I didn't like it when people suggested that Power Suit Samus in Smash Bros. is actually the SA-X, as I feel it does a disservice to the character to not even let her fight in her signature Power Suit.
Which is to say nothing of how much of a disservice everything else about her representation is.
But this comic works because Samus' reaction is nearly identical to my own.

Speaking of which, go vote for Ridley.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'll see about getting colors done by today, but they probably won't be up till tomorrow, Mondays are very busy for me.
GigaNerd17 edit delete
Dang, that chalk panel is fancy! Great job, DryKirby! ^_^

My vote was for King K. Rool, though the runner-ups included the Wrestler & Interviewer from Rhythm Heaven Fever and Shantae. Sorry, guys -- Kremlings 4 Life!
TheMightyBox edit delete
In retrospect panel 2 was probably meant to be a plastic case.
I was imagining it to be like that bit in Melee's intro.

That bit.
my version totally looks cooler tho

I voted for Geno. Because SMRPG:LotSS was completely put aside from all the Smash games due to being owned by Square-Enix, and dammit, Geno was way too awesome to get such a sad fate. (I would have hoped for Mallow too, but the poor cloud-guy will never get as many votes as our puppet pal.)

Oh yeah, I did a joke about Zero Suit Samus wearing high heels at some point on my site. I think I was trying to find things a Sergeant Calhoun speaking doll would say. And one of the lines was "The day I show up on the battlefield in high heels is the day I'll be dead inside." Maybe it's more sad than funny...

I voted Karate Joe from Rhythm Heaven.

We're missing him, please understand

I loved that webcomic. I found someone who saved all the comics and put them up in a dropbox folder so even now that the comic is offline I can still read them.

I was kind of obsessive and did it myself.
Only with every shiftylook comic.
I'm thinking I should upload them at some point...

Vote-for-Lip! Vote-for-Lip!
Hey, you should do a comic on block-droppers...I mean the lot of them. Maybe it's confusing to try and get each others' garbage/nuisance/etc. off of each others' boards, yet possible. (Yeah, I'm thinking of it as a game instead of a comic...but I honestly don't care. I'm pretty sure you guys can make it work.)
I'm serious about Lip.

So.. It's essentially an Amiibo?

Either way, that definitely is a decent explanation.

Which Nightmare?

Kirby, Soul Calibur or Moon?

I voted for snake because I think love can bloom, even on battlefield (seadra what I did there)
Guybrush20X6 edit delete reply
In a perfect world this would show at Konami's conference at this year's E3

*Old Snake and Otacon talk about how one should spend their final days, referring in story to Snake's life coming to an end but also to how MGS as we know it will end*
*Snake sees Sunny playing Smash for WiiU with a gamecube controller*
Snake: I'm done fighting wars...
*Snake produces an amiibo of his younger self*
Snake: But, I'm up for one last fight.
*Proceeds to over dramatically slam the amiibo down on the gamepad, causing Solid Snake to appear in the middle of a fight between Mario, Sonic, Mega Man and Pac-Man*
Solid Snake: Kept you waiting, huh?
Swagner edit delete reply
Oh, I'm torn between voting for General Guy or Rawk Hawk...

Incidentally, I empathize with you, Box, but you can take some comfort in knowing that this (hilarious) joke isn't even comparable to the disservice to Samus's character that was Metroid: Other M.
TheMightyBox edit delete reply
the good news at least, is that if Nintendo for whatever reason chooses Ridley, they'll be forced to not use his ugly Other M look.
At least I hope they don't.
It's so ugly.

I guess I'm stupid, because I just DON'T GET IT THIS TIME!!

I've needed reading again sometimes, but this time, I don't understand it AT ALL. With that I mean the last 3 panels. I just don't get it.

On a side note, good luck having Nintendo convincing Square to give Geno back. Since it became Enix instead of Soft, they became jerks. I would still love to see him on Smash.
TheMightyBox edit delete reply
It's a reference to Metroid Fusion,
in which Samus was hunted down by a parasite that had taken the form of her traditional Power Suit.
Look up SA-X and you'll understand, probably.
DiZ Boshi (Guest) edit delete reply

I guess if you had used the Dark Samus color choice I would have understood. But oh well. Thanks a lot!!

JokerJay779 (Guest) (Guest) edit delete reply
Seriously though I don't still get WHY you had Mega Man killed off. If its about the Capcom thing he is not necessarily dead. He is just taking a brief retirement.Things have gotten very peaceful. But there will be a time when he is needed again. And when that time comes he will return.
TheMightyBox edit delete reply
Well if Mega Man hadn't died then Roll wouldn't have started a hospital in his memory and we wouldn't have a plot now would we.

Note: I don't actually know Guy's reasons or planned plotlines, but that's probably what it is.
JokerJay779 (Guest) edit delete reply
Yeah but did the hospital had to be a memorial?
TheMightyBox edit delete reply
The point is
Mega Man's death was the catalyst that kickstarted the whole plot. Maybe Roll would've started a hospital without him needin to die in the process but it all exists the way we know it because he did.
JokerJay779 (Guest) edit delete reply
Still kinda feel like the whole Mega Man being dead thing is just needless drama.
TheMightyBox edit delete reply
we get it.
This is like the fifth comment you've made about how you disagree with the decision.

Criticism and comments are important to us but the deed is already done and frankly it's not your comic to make story decisions over.

I don't want to sound like a dick over this and I'm sorry, but,
yes. We get it. We understand your opinion. Thank you.
JokerJay779 (Guest) edit delete reply
Sorry. Honestly I was the one being the dick. Its just that I feel like people are still overeacting about the whole Capcom thing. Its not like Mega Man will never get a game again. Someday. I mean maybe that was what his SSB4 inclusion was for. To revive his series. Like what Sakurai did to Kid Icarus.
JokerJay779 (Guest) edit delete reply
Well at least he died as a hero. Who made the super weapon that threatened Lightopolis anyway?
Robert (Guest) edit delete reply
It's the SAX!! Everyone run!!
DryKirby64 edit delete reply
Nobody can handle sax solos of that magnitude! They're just too funky!
Z2 (Guest) edit delete reply
I'd be down with classic suit Samus secretly being the SA-X... IF they added Fusion Suit Samus as DLC.
JokerJay779 (Guest) edit delete reply
Again I am very sorry for being a dick over your comic choices. You know though I had an idea involving your comic's universe and how it combines different game worlds together. Basically its more of an action series and a prequel (before Mega Man's death and yes it would end with Mega Man's death showing the fight and how it happened) to this series. It would involve video game heroes teaming up to stop video game villains. There's just one big problem. I am not very artistic.
Guybrush20X6 edit delete reply
You pretty much described the ideas for a prequel I have lying around. Except, while there is a lot more action, it's more about the characters coping in the immediate aftermath of the disaster than combined all worlds. Still a comedy series at heart but it's tricky to get the balance right.
JokerJay779 (Guest) edit delete reply
Well of course there would be that too and character development and character interactions and what not. Maybe a Dr.Gardevoir cameo at one point. You gotta make sure to make a good blend of seriousness, comedy, and action. Like the original Teen Titans cartoon and the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. What heroes and villains would we see in this prequel?
JokerJay779 (Guest) edit delete reply
Perhaps one of the things the bad guys could do is do evil things during all of the chaos that is happening. And that's how the heroes team up to stop it.
Rey (Guest) edit delete reply
Actually, if you think about it, Mega Man originally only fought because he had no other choice. Unlike the other Smashers, he doesn't enjoy combat.
