"...when you're sleeping in the ceiling."

It's funny that Roger Wilco only ever became the hero by virtue of sleeping on the job, meaning the Scariens missed him when gunning down the rest of the crew.

We're gonna take a holiday break because we can't compete with the Holidays for views but you can help us out be letting everyone know that Level 30 Psychiatry is back up and updating again.

Thank you to Kobayen for the lineart and Drackon for color and shading.

Wow! It's up already! I better get to work. Good thing I had a new laptop, even if I do share it with a sibling.

Oh hey, comic!
Guest552 (Kobayen) and I finished a comic as well. I kept goofing some stuff up, but after a couple attempts, I'm fairly certain that it's Internet ready. I guess I'd better start on some lineart; the job I was "hired" for. Anyway, all you guys have a Merry X-Mas/ Happy Hanukah/ Happy Quanza or whatever else you celebrate, and if you don't celebrate, have a great day.

Very nice job. Also that is sad that that is actually how Roger became a hero.
JokerJay779 (Guest) edit delete reply
If King's Quest got a new game recently what if Space Quest gets one?
Drackon edit delete reply
I don't know if this is just me, but I notice that the origin of Roger seem pretty appropriate for the world's morality. It rarely appears, but when it does, we find it was sleeping on the job when we needed it most. Also, this year sucked. No sugar coating it, 2016 sucked. An optimist expects it to get better, and a pessimist expects it to get worse. I see there's an argument to both, but the latter is statistically more likely to happen, based on history, legend, and a general understanding of literary tropes.

I don't think we could have blamed everyone for trying to sleep through all of 2016, considering how bad the year was. But much like Wilco sleeping on the job, that's avoiding responsibility.

When you make a mistake, you don't sweep it nder the rug. You study it, and you learn from it. Not everyone likes to do that, some people would rather pull wool over their own eyes, but that's not progress.

So, for all the No Man's Skies and other disappointments of the year, in video games and anywhere else... let's remember, and make 2017 a better year, all together.

A year with more Level 30 Psychiatry, because darn I missed this comic.
Drackon edit delete reply
I've been thinking about what you said (and THAT usually goes well for the heroes), and I can't figure out a proper response. I mean, you are right, but it's not quite what I meant when I made that comment. I was thinking along the lines of our "right and wrong" sensors, not our over arching history this year. Still, it sucked. You can't really deny that it did. And, yeah, we SHOUKD learn from our past, but I can't see that happening anytime soon, if ever.

I'd rather comfort myself in my idealism and try to help and change things if nobody else seems to, than hide into cynicism and sulk all day about the potential impending doom brought by collective stupidity.

Hey, at least one good thing came out of this year: the glorious return of this webcomic!
Guest522 edit delete reply
The current pencil artist / inker is crap. Everything is chickenscratched, Roll is all over the place, he's too lazy to do his own colors and I bet he got the job by murdering Kirby64 and the others.

... why are you looking at me like that?

I love the lines on this. It gives them a little personality. Whoever this Kobayen is did a good job. Also, good job Drackon.

I love how people are saying they love that Level 30 is coming back. I do too, and I hope that it continues on until the end of all scripts.
Guest522 edit delete reply
Drackon did do a better job than that hack. Maybe they were just warming up into production.

I do hope the comic is a regular again. Else, this is just a tease, and christmas is ruined forever.
Drackon edit delete reply
Thanks, both of you. However, I should note Guybrush combined our colorings, and I must admit, it looks very good. I made many errors, one of which can be seen at the bottom, with Roll's legs (some of them are missing their color). I'm not the best with layers (I don't know if a JPEG, even if it WAS the wrong file type, can differentiate layers, but still, I'm not the best), so my organisation was off with the coloring. Sharing was better, but there are still some errors. Also, I LOVED the lineart. It looked amazing to me.

Talking about scripts, I might have an idea, though it would be a pretty big page with multiple jokes in it.

Who would thought sleeping could make you a hero? One more reason to sleep then.

I like the coloring. It feels as if it was done with crayons, or at hand, and I think is a nice effect.

Hope you keep bringing us a great job onve again.
Drackon edit delete reply
Thanks. Like I said, Guybrush combined our colorings, and I made a lot of errors. However, I did do it by hand. Kind of. I used a monitor called a Cintiq. It's a monitor, but it can be used like a tablet as long as you have the right stylus. That alone is like 80 bucks, and it needs a full desktop to run it, so it's not a cheap thing, but it is what the professionals use, so I'm glad I'm at college, otherwise it wouldn't have been nearly this good. Also, that hand drawn style might come from the fact that it was hand drawn, mostly.
Guest522 edit delete reply
If it involves a hand and a stylus or mouse, it was done by hand heh.
Drackon edit delete reply
Meh. I don't count the bits I did with a mouse and a couple of commands. But yeah, mainly hand drawn, with paint bucket (kind of an exception, since that WAS guided with the stylus). I did do most of the shadows by hand, though. As in, I actually drew and colored them without the help of a command.

I just found out
on iPhones and such, holding down on the comic/image it will bring up the alt text along with the normal rubbish it brings up.
Drackon edit delete reply
Awesome. That's hilarious.
On a side note, do you plan to put up a new years comic?
Guybrush20X6 edit delete reply
Guybrush20X6
No, we're taking a holiday break, just to shore up the backlog a bit more. Besides everyone else has already made the jokes about how horrible 2016 was anyway. Not much I could do without getting too meta about how the comic ceased to exist for a while. Don't really want to do that.
Drackon edit delete reply
Yeah, good point.
Guest522 edit delete reply
2016 was so crappy, it barely had any psychiatry.
Or was the lack of psychiatry that caused 2016's suckiness?

Not for guybrush...
Drackon edit delete reply
Yup. And we got Deadpool, Doom, and a bundle of good games. Sadly, Carrie Fisher, (Princess Leia for those of you who don't know) died Christmas evening. This could be difficult for the trilogy, as while the studio has said they shot all of her scenes for episode viii before she died, they now have to work around her death for the grand finale, episode ix.
Guest522 edit delete reply
Again? Eeech, Christmas lately has an habit of taking out the known people... I think last time it was mr. Kalashnikov.
MyNameIsNull edit delete reply
MyNameIsNull
One of those good games include Overwatch! But yeah, it's sad that Carrie is gone. #RIPCarrie.
Drackon edit delete reply
I wonder... How many people do you think would get a joke of Overwatch vs TF2?

Watch this space.

What do you mean when you say to watch the space? Like, monitor the chat? And, was it my comment or something else that sparked the idea? I'm totally lost here.

Heh, good to have this back up and running.

Still, wonder if Warframe will make an appearance? Would Gardevoir have to eventually deal with the Lotus or the Operators having issues?

Also, what would the Star Fox team think of Star Fox Zero? Will they need a trip to Dr Gardevoir?
Guest522 edit delete reply
I think one of them would need to have played Warframe. To that extent, something on Payday might be easier, as it has actual characters.
Victor J Lazarus-056 edit delete reply
Victor J Lazarus-056
I really doubt it. Most of them would have fit under the type that would quickly take up the challenge and get even more Rich.

Warframe... Well, even if you say the Payday crew have characters, Warframe has Characters as well.

It's just that you find out AFTER the Second Dream Quest. And besides, would you say the same of Goombas, Mooks and all the like that Doc Gardevoir has to deal with as NOT being Characters?
Victor J Lazarus-056 edit delete reply
Victor J Lazarus-056
As a matter of fact, even if they needed therapy, the Payday crew are CRIMINALS.

They're not super-villains with a reputation for being failures, they're not incompetent Morons, they are stone-cold killers that break into banks, destroy property, kill tons of Police officers by the Truckload and can even stand toe-to-toe with fully armored EoD wearing soldiers and WIN the fight.

And let's not get started on the fact that even if they disguise themselves, Gardevoir would quickly realize what they are, and even if she can't read their minds, Roll would quickly recognize them, disguised or not.

So yeah, it's both a combination of this and my previous comment of them getting rich quicker via their skills... As a matter of Fact, if the Payday crew got their hands on any form of Power Armor, Nanosuit or any item that provides protection and Strength boosting, I'd wager a guess that their rep would SKYROCKET through the ROOF!

I just realized that I need to get on doing lineart tomorrow. Speaking of which, I'm getting a touchscreen monitor soon, which means that you'll be seeing my lineart. Definitely more often if I do decide to do mouse lineart.
Drackon edit delete reply
So, anyone got any games they look forward to seeing in 2017?
Guybrush20X6 edit delete reply
Guybrush20X6
Waiting to see what the Switch has in store. Besides that, Yooka Laylee, Ever Oasis and 3DS Dragon Quest 8.
MyNameIsNull edit delete reply
MyNameIsNull
1st of all, I re GB with the switch. It has so much potential, just WAITING to be unleashed. Besides that, I just want to see more Overwatch characters, and HOPEFULLY a new Elder Scrolls trailer. Or Fallout at the very least.

Back to Nintendo, I also either want a new Mega Man, Metroid (just old school platforming) or maybe a new smash. But I don't think they'd do that: after all, they did just release SSB4 for the 3ds, so preferably that. Oh and, I'm also excited for... GOING FAST! There's gonna be a new sonic game this year, with both new and old sonic. And I think I might get it on PC, if they have it. They probably do, cuz it's also on Next/Current Gen consoles, (I call it Next but most call it Current,) and usually when it's on those, it's on PC.
Drackon edit delete reply
Yeah,I've looked at a few triple-A titles, and nothing really stood out. The game I sent you (Guybrush) an email about though, looks pretty sweet. For anyone who's interested, it's called Savior, and is being developed by two Cubans, who are going around the east coast right now to try and get funding for the game. I don't know if the Kickstarter is still open, but they did hit their goal, so I guess they don't need as much support anymore, but I'm sure any they can get is still appreciated.
