There are three holiday specials you are almost always guaranteed to see in a work: a Christmas sketch, a Halloween sketch, and an April Fools sketch. However, I feel Memorial Day is horribly overlooked by most everyone. Perhaps I'm biased, having a little sister who died at birth, but that's my view of it either way.

To those of you who live outside the United States and don't possess a holiday like this, I encourage you to take a moment to remember your loved ones, especially those who have passed away. Let those who are alive know how much you appreciate them, and bring a flower or two to the graves of those who loved you.

I wrote this one, by the way--not Guybrush--which means a break from the usual narrative and a crap-ton of cameos. Sometimes I feel Level 30 doesn't quite play up the "crossover" bit enough, so I compensated in this strip with various locales and two freaking gods. There should hopefully be something for everyone.

Only other series I can remember doing a Memorial Day thing is Homestar Runner but that was more to make fun of Memorial Day sales. ("I'm the hoppity frog of value") I've been meaning to write a comic that, explains even with extra lives, people can potentially die for real in Venatus but my attempts to write it either end up too heavy or too long winded.

Oh, and since we hit 69 (stop giggling) subscribers, Level 30 is now in the top 100 most subscribed comics on Comic Fury. Big thanks to all you guys and gals out there for sticking with our crazy little comic.

This is great. I bought yellow roses today. They were my friends favourite. She died of ovarian cancer not too long ago and I miss her dearly.

congrats on your subs~

It's true, we don't see nearly enough memorial day strips.

Congrats on making it to the big leagues!

This reminds me of the song; "Ode to the Minions" by the guy that does Brawl in the Family. It's a great song, but I always feel too guilty to play video games afterwards.

Matter of fact the three of us met and started the comic on the Brawl in the Family boards.

Yeah, that song is a real heartstring jerker.

You know we should see some head stones of UNSC marines. They can't respawn

I remember that Memorial Day exists, and I remember that around 9/11 I celebrated it for a few years, but after that, it kinda faded. Honestly, there's too many Monday holidays (especially Monday holidays with similar themes to them >_<) for me to track which is which. :P

Butyeah. I like this comic, and think it's a wonderful tribute. :)

I don't think I get what's going on in panel 3... What is that a reference to?

The dude on the left is Orphan, final boss of Final Fantasy XIII. The girl on the right is Jill Valentine, a protagonist of the Resident Evil series. The showdown doesn't make much sense in and of itself, but the idea is that she'll probably get killed multiple times trying to take down that huge thing by herself.

Poor Link... Not merely forced to respawn constantly, but also forced to reincarnate to fight Ganondorf for all eternity. In multiple universes.

... And he NEVER gets the girl. This hero hasn't gotten the girl in any of his adventures. Closest we've come is strong implications with Ilia, but even that was never canon confirmed. "Hero always gets the girl..." Ha.
